This past weekend was the Souper Bowl of Caring and with the hard work of the teams of FIAT teens, 8th graders and Core Adults we had an extremely successful Souper Bowl Sunday. Their efforts along with the wonderful generosity of the entire St. Ambrose Parish allowed us to collect over $7,000 that will all go to help support an entire year of community meals. We will be able to serve over 5,000 meals through the next 12 months. This is just another small victory for our FIAT Revolution and a reminder that if we put our faith in God wonderful things happen. FIAT Strong!
Get Ready for the Big Show This Weekend: The Souper Bowl…of Caring That Is

Fun. Service. Friends. Football. What do all of these have in common?
They are all the important ingredients that make up the Souper Bowl of Caring, which will be held after all the Masses during the weekend of
February 6-7th.
This is the major fundraiser for our Monthly Community Meal, and thanks to last year, and all the help of our FIAT Teens, the Social Justice Commission and FIAT were able to raise over $5,200, which stayed right here at St. Ambrose to fund our monthly community meals.
This year we are trying to make this the best Souper Bowl of Caring yet, and are aiming for at least $6,000.Â
Here’s how it works: The FIAT Teens form teams to collect money in the soup pots before and after each Mass during Super Bowl weekend. Each team will also have additional projects, such as a bake sale and sandwich sub sale. Just a few examples of our FIAT ingenuity from last year.
All the money that is collected stays right here in our parish to feed our brothers and sisters who have come to depend on the Community Meal for friendly fellowship along with a delicious hot meal. Each month over 200 meals are served here at the Church and even to families who are home bound.
Community Meal volunteers prepare the meals the Saturday before with master chef Jim Blake. So many of the volunteers are there on Saturday cooking, then come back on Sunday to help.
Everyone involved sit and talk to the guests who come for the food and friendship . They love that. Buehler’s has been a generous partner donating bakery to give out to all our guests.
Super Bowl Sunday is a day when millions of dollars are spent to enjoy the football experience. So before we gather together to have fun with our friends and family, let’s remember those who cannot even afford a bowl of soup.
Help make Super Bowl weekend more than just a party all
about the big show in Miami, and help make a difference in a local family’s lives right here in Brunswick.
